Cotopaxi canopy

The Cañon del Salto Canopy (Salto Canyon) is a transportation system based on gravity which uses harnesses and pulleys attached to an inclined cable. This system was used by scientists who were doing research in the forest canopy and this allowed them to move from tree to tree without coming down to the ground.

The Salto Canyon Canopy Tour is a safe way to move on tree tops and enjoy the high mountain forest. This is an environmentally low-impact adventure and people with little or no climbing techniques may have an exciting experience.

The Salto Canyon Canopy Tour uses 5 cables ranging from 100 to 480 meters in length. These cables can hold many tons of weight in suspension. One ton of grounded anchorage keeps the cables well strengthened. A climbing via-ferrata is also available.

We provide our visitors with top of the line equipment and pulleys specially designed for cable use. Fitness is not a factor in the canopy tour as gravity does all the work. Almost anyone can experience this adventure starting with children aged 7+.

We have expert guides who make this a very safe tour and a learning experience as they have great knowledge of this unique ecosystem.
